About Wheat Berries
You may not recognize the name, but without wheat berry kernels there would be no flour! Of course nearly nobody has the time to regularly grind thier own flour, though it's definitely worth trying at least once. Wheat berries are whole wheat kernels in short thick grains similar to brown rice, and are just as easy to prepare. When boiled wheat berries have a chewy texture and subtle nutty flavors. Adding a little water to wheat berries can also grow wheat sprouts for salads and smoothies.

A cup of cooked wheat berries contain about 300 calories and is packed with fiber, iron, and protein. Germinated wheat berry sprouts are loaded with vitamin E, a cell-protecting antioxidant, and magnesium which may benefit the bones and muscles.
